Forfar Road Gallery and Collectibles is a retail space located at 110 Scotland Street, Roxburgh, in the beautiful Central Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand.
The gallery is a place to showcase the work of the varied and talented artists who call the Teviot Valley home. Prominent names in the local art scene, such as artists Sheena Lassen and Dorothy L. Piper, local potter Marion Mewburn, wood sculpturist Murray Sheppard, and Jeweller Julia Fast, offer beautiful works that are all on display at Forfar Road Gallery & Collectibles.
From a long-imagined ‘great idea’, work began in the year 2021 on transforming a run-down unused former grocery store into a light, bright, funky showroom—an ideal place to present the beautiful artworks created here in our scenic wonderland of Central Otago. We expect to add many more names to this list of contributing artists as our journey progresses.
We decided to include items for sale, such as mid-century style collectables, as we have a keen interest in this era. We offer a selection of West German pottery and porcelain items, mid-century Italian glass and ceramics, mid-century English porcelain, pottery and collectables. We also offer a selection of New Zealand made mid-century porcelain, pottery and collectables from makers such as Crown Lynn, Temuka Pottery, and Hanmer Pottery. We also have a selection of vintage travel posters, vintage art prints, and general collectables and memorabilia from the 1950s era. To continue re-imagining the typical concept of an ‘art gallery’, we also offer a select amount of classic Hi-Fi equipment—turntables, amplifiers, speakers etc., typically from the 1970s and ’80s. So you are quite likely to have some groovy sounds to listen to while browsing.
